Meta Z won't open M4V or MOV files.

Reported by Judah SMith | September 27th, 2010 @ 09:51 PM

Is it possible to have Meta Z support M4v and especially MOV files formats. We love that your moving Meta X forward. But the support of MOV would be great!

All I use are .m4v files and it's always opened them fine. What program are you using to encode them?

Never had a problem with MetaZ reading/writing .mov or .m4v files (except for Mac OS 10.7 which is now fixed).

    I have the same problem - I can't get the program to open/process .m4v files. I'm running the current build, Version 1.0a8 (11.08.08.23), on a 2011 MacBook Pro running 10.7.1, Build 11B26.

Chris, you imply there was something fixed with .m4v file access in 10.7 - what was it that changed?

1.0a7 did not work with m4v files on Lion at all.
1.0a8 fixed most of the issues but one slipped by the radar so you still can't drop m4v files onto the dock icon.
As a workaround you can drop the files onto the files table instead of the dock icon.

I converted mkv files using mp4tools from emm gunn . metaz doesnt open them whether i drag them onto the right hand table, or if i try to add them via the + sign.

This problems seems to be temperamental and I don't know how to fix it.

Its only started happening to me over the last few weeks, and even after uninstalling the application and reinstalling the problems is still there. The only way around it I've found so far is to restore my computer -- yes I went to last resort option to make it work... then this morning its back having the .M4V files greyed out (so to open).

    There's a bug somewhere and I don't know where.
